Write a Review

The Serengeti is a Tanzanian national park in the Mara and Simiyu regions of Africa. It is famous for its annual migration of over 1.5 million white bearded wildebeest and 250,000 zebra to its open grasslands and savannas. The Serengeti is a diverse ecosystem containing over 5,700 square miles of grassy plains, savannas, riverine forests, and woodlands. The grassland region in northwest Tanzania is by far the most popular, being the home of Zebras, Gazelles, Buffalo, Hippopotamuses, Colobus Monkeys, Bush Elephants, Black Rhinos, African Lions, and Nile Crocodiles. Because of its biodiversity and ecological significance, the park has officially been listed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization as a World Heritage Site. As a national park the Serengeti is also protected from future development and degradation by remaining uninhabited by people.
