Oia, Santorini, Greece

Write a Review

Oia is a small town in the South Aegean on the island of Santorini, in the Cyclades, Greece. The city is built on the steep slope of a volcanic crater and the houses and restaurants are actually built into niches carved into the cliff face on the seaward side, this provides most of the city with a beautiful panoramic view of the Aegean Sea. The pinnacle point of Oia is the ruined castle, also called Fort Londsa, which was the seat of the Argyri family under the Venetians and serves as a lookout point with a complete 360-degree view. One of the most recognizable buildings in the town is an old windmill, which often appears on postcards.
